Edmonton Angels Fall After Strong Showing By Parkland Twins

Edmonton Angels had trouble keeping up with Parkland Twins in a 19-5 loss on Sunday at John Fry.

Parkland Twins got on the board in the top of the first inning after Clark Spencer walked, Mike McFayden grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Brett Barron grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.

Parkland Twins scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Raiden Hagglund singled, scoring one run, Spencer drew a walk, scoring one run, Joe Pasychnyk singled, scoring one run, McFayden singled, scoring one run, Barron singled, scoring one run, Matt Orey drew a walk, scoring one run, and Hagglund drew a walk, scoring one run.

Parkland Twins added one run in the third. Barron singled to center field, making the score 11-1.

Kyle Prather earned the win for Parkland Twins. The hurler gave up four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Josh Goonewardene pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Edmonton Angels. The reliever allowed eight hits and seven runs while, striking out one and walking two. Carter Gabert took the loss for Edmonton Angels. The lefty went two innings, surrendering 10 runs on six hits, striking out none and walking seven. Logan Cameron opened the game for Parkland Twins. The starter gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking one.

Logan Colville led Edmonton Angels with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Edmonton Angels turned two double plays in the game. Edmonton Angels were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Zackary Creighton had the most chances in the field with six.

Parkland Twins tallied 16 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Hagglund led Parkland Twins with three hits in five at bats. Pasychnyk, Barron, Hayden Rake, and Hagglund each drove in three runs for Parkland Twins. Mike Cassidy collected two hits for Parkland Twins in three at bats. Spencer paced Parkland Twins with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Hagglund stole two bases. Parkland Twins ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
