Players from both the North Central Alberta Baseball League and Foothills League in Calgary have formed a combined club in their bid to bring home gold in the Western Canada Baseball Championship. This year’s event is being hosted in Saskatoon with elite baseball clubs from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia competing at the Senior AA level. This first time initiative was the brainchild of the Parkland Twins who will have competed in four consecutive Western Canada Baseball Championships hosted in turn by all four provincial associations.
The core of players representing the Alberta contingent will be coming from the St. Albert Cardinals and Parkland Twins rosters. Manager Matt Orey has confirmed that the following players will be joining their counterparts from Calgary: Greg Brady, Vaughn Rempel, Kyle Prather, Zaine Foth-Thomas, Dom Pasychnyk, Eli Boucher, Zach Pollard, Daniel Simmonds, and Gavin Turinek.
The schedule for the Alberta squad begins on Friday, August 14 with the final scheduled for late Sunday afternoon.
